Participants will collaborate to create a visually stunning denim tapestry that tells a story about textile waste and how it affects our planet. Learn basic cutting and sewing skills to create a unique denim square that symbolizes your unique and important contribution to the community. Learn surprising facts about denim, and delve into slow fashion, upcycling and textile waste reduction.

No sewing experience is needed; all materials are provided. Let’s use our hands to create something cool together!

"Sew Loka" Claudia Rodriguez-Biezunski

Claudia Rodriguez-Biezunski is a San Diego­-based textile artist, renowned for her establishment, Sew Loka, located in Barrio Logan. Sew Loka is a slow fashion sewing studio that uses recycled, repurposed and reclaimed fabrics to create one of one clothing and accessories, all inspired by Claudia’s Mexican-American heritage.
