Workshop/Demo Interwoven Identity: Exploring Belonging Through Textile Art

Workshop/Demo Interwoven Identity: Exploring Belonging Through Textile Art

You’re invited to participate in Vision Museum of Textile Art’s workshop, “Interwoven Identity: Exploring Belonging Through Textile Art” led by artist Liberty Worth. This workshop explores themes of belonging through hands-on textile collage-making and a facilitated discussion.

In our workshop, participants will create textile collages to express personal and communal ties, celebrating their unique identities and fostering a unified sense of belonging, particularly between San Diego and Tijuana. Participants will be invited into an open dialogue to discuss their experience of belonging through an approachable art medium that evokes familiarity and comfort.

At Visions Museum of Textile Art, we prioritize inclusivity and accessibility, offering free year-round museum admission for all. Our exhibitions feature local, international, and underrepresented artists, presenting diverse perspectives that challenge single-story narratives and encourage transformative community connections.

Join us to create, connect, and explore what belonging means to you.

This workshop is sponsored by NTC Foundation and is FREE for participants. Our class size is limited to 15 people and prior registration is required.

In addition to our onsite workshop, VMOTA is excited to offer craft kits available throughout Design Week. These kits include materials and instructions to create your own textile collage, reflecting the workshop’s theme of belonging. Perfect for individuals and families, these kits offer a chance to engage in creative expression from the comfort of your home. Kits are limited to the first 30 people who stop by the museum and request one between September 19th and September 25th, 2024.

We look forward to exploring the theme of belonging with you!
