Workshop/Demo Kurinuki Cup Ceramic Workshop

Workshop/Demo Kurinuki Cup Ceramic Workshop

Join Josh Herman from Tao of Clay for an immersive Kurinuki workshop where we explore the organic nature of clay through making unique organic cups.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the Kurinuki technique, a traditional Japanese method of carving out forms from a solid block of clay. This approach encourages you to engage deeply with the sensory aspects of the ceramic process, allowing the material itself to guide your creative journey. It embodies the ethos of our studio, where the inherent intelligence of the clay shapes the evolution of each piece, fostering a harmonious connection between the creator and the creation.

The workshop offers 18 in-person spots and will also be live-streamed for those who wish to participate from home. The price of this workshop includes firing fees for one piece. Pieces will be available for pickup 3 weeks after the event or can be shipped for an additional cost, paid at the end of the workshop.

About the Host

Tao of Clay

Tao of Clay is a new ceramic studio and membership space dedicated to integrating mindfulness and organicity into the art of ceramics. We view the tactile and experiential nature of working with clay as a profound opportunity for self-exploration and self-awareness. By embracing this philosophy, we nurture our growth not only as artists but also as individuals.

At Tao of Clay, we offer regular courses in throwing, hand-building, and glazing. Our studio frequently hosts guest artists whose work and experience enrich our ethos and provide exceptional learning opportunities for our students and members.
