Join us on Saturday, September 21 from 3-7 p.m. during San Diego Design Week for a FREE event celebrating the culmination of Oscar Romo’s 3-month “My Creative Journey/Mi Viaje Creativo” residency at the San Diego Made Factory.
This event will unveil Oscar’s final project—a stunning sculptural legacy map of the San Diego Promise Zone. It will be a celebration of BELONGING, showcasing community art and storytelling from within San Diego’s Promise Zone communities, and will feature live music, a fashion show, food, and drinks.
Event Highlights:
All Event Long: Food for purchase by Soul Sarap @soulsarap (Filipino Cuisine inspired by a Southern Kitchen) and Miguelito’s Catering Service (Tacos), open creative studios, kids creativity areas, and works on display by upcoming resident artists
3:00 PM – 4:15 PM: Latin guitar by Pablo Cantua @cantuamusic
4:30 PM – 4:50 PM: Land acknowledgment followed by a Kumeyaay dance performance
4:50 PM – 5:10 PM: Oscar Romo and the San Diego Made Factory Team speeches
5:15 PM – 5:30 PM: Latin guitar performance by Pablo Cantua @cantuamusic
5:45 PM – 6:00 PM: Fashion Show by Boss Ladie Bling Blingy @ladieblingy4
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Mix, mingle, and enjoy the community vibes
Oscar Romo’s sculptural legacy map is a testament to how design can create, foster, and transform a sense of belonging and social agency. The event reflects the spirit of creativity and innovation, offering inspiration while showcasing the deep-rooted connections within our community.

About the Host
San Diego Made Factory
San Diego Made Factory is a dynamic, multi-creative warehouse located in Logan Heights, founded by four women. This vibrant space was designed to bring together artists and communities, fostering self-expression and collaboration through the arts.
Oscar Romo, a resident artist at San Diego Made, is the first to participate in the My Creative Journey/Mi Viaje Creativo program. An architect with degrees in urban planning, social housing, and computer science, Oscar’s work focuses on reflecting scientific discoveries and environmental challenges through his academic research and artistic expression. With over 30 years of residence and work in Barrio Logan, Oscar’s art is prominently featured in Tijuana and Southern California.
