Color on a playground is rarely just a finish decision. It shapes how children perceive, behave in, and belong to a space — and the research backing that has outpaced how most of us specify for it. This session looks at color through three lenses: the science of how children’s visual systems develop, the psychology of how specific hues influence mood and behavior, and the applied practice of translating that research into playground design. Designers will leave with a framework for defending color decisions as design decisions, not preferences.
