Cross-Pollination: The Heart of Inspiration

Idea Mash-up? Cross Pollination? Tomato tomate!

Come and learn how to bring two very different ideas or concepts together and boom! Often, an even better idea comes up that leads to positive change.

In this event, we are going to inspire you with panel discussions about real world idea-mashups that brought real change to our region, followed by an interactive breakout to reflect and brainstorm together to identify new idea mash-ups that YOU want to explore, and we finish off with a unique surprise presentation to send us off energized to get started out in the community.

Join this event to meet change makers and change seekers. Get inspired for your own initiative by learning about how seemingly different ideas like environment + civic engagement, botany + community, fashion + architecture can come together with a purpose and create real change in our region.

The Design Forward Alliance

Design Forward Alliance is an independent non-profit incorporated in 2017 as an organization that promotes human-centered design, design-driven innovation in business, education, and government. Founded by the Design Lab at UCSD and a group of visionary designers. Design Forward Alliance aims to inspire a region to re-imagine itself into the future.

In 2021 the organization led the efforts to win the designation of San Diego-Tijuana World Design Capital 2024, with the support of the Design Lab at UCSD, Burnham Center for Community Advancement, City of San Diego, City of Tijuana, our binational community of designers, government partners, business, donors, and staff.
