Working Design Session Let’s Co-Design Together – Design Playbook (In Person)

Join us in democratizing design across the San Diego-Tijuana transborder region to unlock a better future!

“Democratizing Design” is an Impact Project of World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024 (WDC2024). Help us co-create an accessible and inclusive “Design Playbook” that enables everyone to solve everyday challenges through design, regardless of their background or expertise.

Participate in an interactive co-design roundtable at the Mingei International Museum with other professional designers, educators and students on “Industry Day” from across our region. Share your feedback on the prototype Design Playbook’s elements including tenants, definitions, tools and case studies. The Design Playbook, aims to positively impact the community through engagement with civic and youth stakeholders.

Join us to shape the future of design in our community to help everyone in our transborder region design better solutions for everyday challenges! We look forward to your participation in democratizing design for our transborder community!

*A virtual experience will be offered as a separate event on September 20th (12pm-1pm) to engage more people from our transborder community. We will also host other co-design roundtables in the region this fall. We hope to see you at these events!

Democratizing Design is a WDC2024 impact project that envisions a global model to make design accessible and highlight its value in improving life in our transborder region. Led by UC San Diego Design Lab in partnership with The Design Academy and CETYS University, the project focuses on enabling sustainable, accessible, and affordable creative problem-solving to improve life quality and address regional challenges through humanity-centered design. Democratizing Design’s goal is to collaborate and co-design inclusively and develop a “Design Playbook” prototype for a wide range of people, regardless of background or skill level and measure its impact.
