Studio Tour Holistic-Spaces Studio Tour

We’re hosting a studio tour in an award winning building featuring a couple of the most influential artists, designers, and architects in Little Italy. We will have a tour of the 4-story walk-up building originally designed by architect Ted Smith. As well as an artist led tour of world renown fiber artist: Rachel Ehlin-Smith. Followed by a workshop called Creating a Holistic-Space with Holistic Interior Designer Steffi Reyes-Thomas.

Rachel Ehlin-Smith is a fiber artist living and working in San Diego, California. Her work mainly consists of natural materials like silk, horse hair, alpaca (wool) and locally foraged plants and flowers.

When asked where she forages her plants, Rachel smiles and says, “I have all of these spots all over my neighborhood that I know of that drop really great flowers that make amazing dye plants. So I go on a lot of strolls picking plants off the ground”. Her sculptural weaving blends contemporary art with traditional techniques, using silk, alpaca, horsehair, and preserved plants.

Steffi Reyes-Thomas is an Afro-Chicana Holistic Designer and Artist. Growing up near Chicago, her unique lens has been set on the creative aspects of art and design. She has focused on wellness in the built-environment and regenerative practices as Founder & Chief of Holistic-Spaces Design Consultancy.

Her approach includes social equity and neuroaesthetics, crafting deeply personal experiences with both art and design. She carries multiple mediums and currently her focus is on acrylic and henna on the human form.

Light Refreshments provided. Public Transit & Ride Share encouraged.
