For the first time in North America, Ministerio Transexual an artist collective from Lima, Peru, will exhibit in San Diego and Tijuana in partnership with Ediciones Caradura, Centro Cultural de la Raza, and Border X Brewing during San Diego Design Week.
Take part in the opening exhibition of “Nobody is Sick Here” and Open Mic happening Friday, September 20th, 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ediciones Caradura Cafeteøría (C. 8va. Miguel Hidalgo 8310-2, Zona Centro, 22000 Tijuana, B.C., Mexico). All are welcome, to share your talents, art, poetry, words, music, whatever you want to share. This is a space to create community and enjoy each other’s presence.

About Ministerio Transexual and Nobody is Sick Here Poster Exhibition
Ministerio Transexual is a fictional utopian state entity that materializes in a digital dialogue, with the goal of hosting visual poster archives in favor of the transgender, transexual, non-binary, and identity-diverse (TTNB) people in Peru and with an international focus.
The exhibition, “Nobody is Sick Here/ Aquí nadie está enfermo” was started in Lima, Peru, in response to the social-political crisis caused by Supreme Decree Nº 009-2024-SA, which invalidates and pathologizes trans identities as “Mental and Behavioral Disorders.” This decree increases vulnerability and discrimination against LGBTIQ+ people, especially the trans community.
Ministerio Transexual reaffirms resistance through activist propaganda, merchandising, zines, and posters, aiming to amplify the desires, demands, and critiques of TTNB individuals facing a repressive, conservative, transphobic, and heteronormative society. Despite being a fictional ministry, the work is real, empowering, connecting, and organizing TTNB people, replicating efforts in every country affected by transphobic laws to build a true Trans Utopia.
Ministerio Transexual Programming During San Diego Design Week
Ministerio Transexual will have a binational poster exhibition in San Diego and Tijuana. The exhibition will run from September 16 – 25th at Ediciones Caradura Cafeteøría (Tijuana) and September 3 – 25th in Centro Cultural de la Raza (San Diego).
The opening reception and open mic will be on Friday, September 20th in Tijuana and the closing reception and open mic on Tuesday, September 24th in Border x Brewing in San Diego.
The poster exhibition will reflect the demands, desires, and criticisms of TTNB people. The audience in SDTJ is invited to participate in “interactive zones,” where they can share their lived experiences, register themselves or their collectives with Ministerio Transexual, and contribute to the network of jobs and opportunities for TTNB people.
The program will allow an open mic where transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse people can share their art, poetry, and talents. This will be an amazing night to come together and build community in San Diego Tijuana and beyond.

Ministerio Transexual is a fictional utopian state entity that materializes in a digital dialogue, with the goal of hosting visual poster archives in favor of the transgender, transexual, non-binary, and identity-diverse (TTNB) people in Peru and with an international focus.
Collective Members:
The beginnings of Ministerio Transexual (Transexual Ministry) was initiated by Salmo Suyo (he/him/they), a Peruvian non-binary artist. His works center around constructive relationships with the trans/transgender community.
Matra Emp (all pronouns) is a queer artist and organizer from the Philippines and San Diego Tijuana.
Jaime Prada (they/them/she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist from Lima, Prada’s art explores the fragmented identities and sex-affective experiences of a non-binary Afro-Peruvian.
Randou Gonzáles (he/him) is an artist from Peru.
John Huamani (he/him) His exploration of spatial relations is based on a deep immersion in the practices of exploitation and circulation of natural-human resources within peripheral landscapes undergoing various processes of local modernization.
