IRT proposes a collaborative binational workshop during Tijuana River Action Month to introduce newly elected public officials and decision-makers in Tijuana to an innovative community science platform. Using Design Thinking, this initiative will tackle environmental, social, urban, and water governance challenges through a structured process of change and social innovation. The Tijuana River Index will be explored to make information about the Tijuana River basin and its tributaries accessible. It aims to educate the public on adaptation strategies, backed by scientific data and institutional support. This platform will enhance multisectoral communication, citizen participation, and regional vision. Our workshop goals include designing and developing a binational communication system, mapping stakeholders, measuring citizen participation impacts, and monitoring the basin’s environmental health. This initiative will foster an informed and participatory society, showcase binational actions, and serve as a decision-making tool, complementing and promoting sustainable development and resilience in the Tijuana River Watershed.
