The Golden Door Country Store grew from the Golden Door resort’s farm stand in San Marcos, California. After the resort introduced bio-intensive farming to its gardens and groves, the land produced more organic fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other goods than its kitchens needed. During the COVID-19 pandemic, residents increasingly relied on the farm stand for food and safe outdoor shopping. Responding to that demand, Golden Door expanded the stand into a community-focused country store. Today, it shares sustainably grown produce, fresh bread, preserves, olive oil, artisanal foods, classes, and events while promoting healthy eating, environmental stewardship, and local connection.
