Design Exhibition From Space to Surface: Architecture Through Painting
From Space to Surface explores how architecture, light, and material can be translated into abstract painting. Anchored by a mixed-media triptych and accompanied by a curated selection of architecturally driven works by Maha Bazzari, the exhibition reflects her background in architectural photography and design, along with her attention to form, structure, and spatial relationships. The finished paintings will be presented alongside selected tools, materials, and works in progress at different stages to reveal how layers, texture, color, and composition develop. An artist talk and walkthrough will offer further insight into her methods and the relationship between architecture, photography, design, and painting. Designed for audiences of all backgrounds, the exhibition makes the creative process visible, accessible, and engaging.
About the Host
Maha Bazzari / studio MAHA
Maha Bazzari is an internationally published architectural photographer, multidisciplinary artist, educator, and founder of studio MAHA. With more than two decades of experience across architecture, design, and photography, she brings an architecturally trained eye to her work across painting, mixed media, and photographic art. Her practice explores light, material, spatial relationships, and the ways built environments shape perception. Based in San Diego, Maha works with architects, designers, institutions, and cultural organizations. She is a professor of photography, offers workshops, and remains actively engaged in San Diego’s architecture, art, and design communities.
