Design Exhibition The Arch of Tranquility: Persian Art, Design, and Wellness

THE ARCH OF TRANQUILITY: PERSIAN ART, DESIGN, AND WELLNESS
Inspired by Taq-e Bostan, a remarkable ensemble of rock reliefs and stone arches from the Sasanian Empire in Persia, dating back approximately 1,700 years, Persian Place invites visitors to participate in creating a collaborative textile arch artwork inspired by its iconic arch.
Visitors will contribute their creativity to one large shared textile piece through stitching, layering, fabric work, and other textile techniques, under the guidance of a textile artist, and Persian Place team member, Marty Ornish. Together, these individual contributions will form a collective interpretation of Taq-e Bostan, connecting ancient Persian heritage with contemporary textile art and community creativity.
As part of the experience, visitors will also be invited to participate in sound healing for tranquility, creating a space for reflection, connection, and wellness inspired by the calming qualities of Persian art and design.
The completed textile arch will be showcased as a symbol of the 2026 collaboration between Persian Place, the Visions Museum of Textile Art, and San Diego Design Week.
